Grrrr . . .
I have to learn how to control the layout on this blog! It previews one thing but publishes another!!!!
TRIBUTE PART 3

Artwork by (top row) Lawrence and Mark; (bottom row) Paul Joey and Rob.
My crowning moment at MHCS was when two of the students submitted these. They had never submitted anything, or if ever, submitted something they didn't really get into. Again, these were done after we had viewed several impressionist works (the first was inspired by Illuminated Manuscripts. He took a popular song at the time and turned it into a manuscript)
Granted, the first three artists (Lawrence, Mark and Paul Joey) submitted only one or two other artwork for the entire year, but Rob kept it coming.
What is it about those impressionists that turns uninterested, bored, high school athletes into enthusiasts?
TRIBUTE PART 2

More from MHCS grads. This one by Jeanine was also inspired by the impressionists. Pretty good considering it's her first art class.
TRIBUTE
These were done last year by high school juniors. Possibly the most talented I had ever seen, considering they had had no previous training. They told me I was the first art teacher who actually asked them to do stuff like this. The butterfly (by Louie), the dominoes (Daichi) and the dolphins (Aimee) were assigned after we had viewed several impressionists. The silhouette at the bottom was inspired by Henri Matisse.
(I don't know how to remove the link thingy. I don't even know why it did that!)
Anyway, they're graduating this summer. And I hope they keep drawing.
